4 Victims Shot at Howe Community Park Sacramento — Unlawful Gathering Results in Shooting
Saturday night, a large unauthorized party of several hundred people at Howe Park in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento became the scene of a shooting when 20 to 25 gunshots filled the air as Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies were working to breaking up the gathering.
A Timeline of Events
At approximately 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff got reports about individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons at Howe Community Park. A second report described a potential fight and people running from the area.
Aerial units was deployed and surveyed the area from above but was unable to locate any ongoing altercation.
At the same time, hundreds of individuals had collected at the park for what authorities described as an unsanctioned event. Law enforcement personnel surrounded the park, activated their vehicle emergency lights, and gave the crowd approximately 15 minutes ordering the crowd to disperse over loudspeakers.
While law enforcement cleared the gathering, an estimated 20 to 25 rounds were fired — sending hundreds of people running in a panic.
The Victims
Four people — one female and three males, all get more info believed to be in their 20s — were rushed to local hospitals. Two victims had injuries classified as immediate, one suffered moderate injuries, and one had minor injuries. All four were listed as stable. Gunfire originated from the Cottage Way side side of the park near the nearby Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. The Home Depot store was placed under temporary lockdown. More shell casings were located on Cottage Way, with projectile damage found in the metal fence surrounding the nearby Home Depot — pointing to a shooter firing south from the Cottage Way area toward the Home Depot. Investigators and crime scene technicians worked the scene overnight.
What We Know About Suspects
According to scanner audio, it was established that a suspect vehicle — a Kia — was contacted in nearby Solano County with four suspects click here detained. SCSO deputies were en route to collect Howe Park Sacramento gunfire the suspects and return them to Sacramento County for questioning. Video evidence confirmed two gunmen were present.
